No Internet!

It’s about time I added to this Blog … but I currently have no Internet connection at home so I have to keep an eye bossward whilst I do any research etc.

It all went wrong after we had the carpet fitters in to replace a carpet that was showing signs of discolouration, after only 18 months of use. The head man had been out to see the carpet and could not believe it. He expected ‘tram lines’ where the floorboards were showing through. The lines in our carpet were perpendicular to the floorboards! The guy who had fitted the carpet came to look at it thinking it was the adhesive coming through but again, where there was adhesive there was no marking! There was nothing showing on the back of the carpet either. All in all they were baffled and eventually they decided to replace the carpet.

So, after the new carpet was down and the TV and furniture was back in place I attempted to set up the computer. I first set up the modem and wireless router as we have a computer in the kitchen recording our CCTV cameras. I thought it would be a useful tool to connect to the Internet to make sure it was all working. It wasn’t! After multiple attempts I finally gave in and left it overnight.

The following day I tried again but to no avail and so I phoned the ‘help’ line – 25p per minute! I explained the problem over and over and eventually the chap agreed that it might be the modem and decided to send me a new one and refund the cost of the call. Quite right too!

The modem duly arrived a few days later and I followed the instructions to set it up and phoned the technical line to get it registered and was told that I would have to wait until at least Tuesday 8th April as they were ‘upgrading’ the network in my area!

This is technology?
