When and where born: Eighteenth July 1862, Alma Terrace, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. Name: Mary. Sex: Girl. Name and surname of father: Owen Williams. Name, surname and maiden name of mother: Elizabeth Williams formerly Davies. Occupation of father: Sea Captain, Coasting Trade. Signature, description and residence of informant: Elizabeth Williams, Mother, Alma Terrace, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. When registered: Fourth August 1862. Signature of registrar: Edward Bell, Registrar.

From the 1871 Wales Census for Aberdovey, Merionethshire (RG10 Piece 5602 Folio 37 Page 34) Mary, 8, Scholar, was with her mother Elizabeth, married, 32, from Borth, Cardiganshire, in High Street, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. With her were her siblings Ann Elizabeth, 10, Scholar, Margareta (sic), 5, Scholar, Lizze (sic), 4, Scholar, and Owen, 1. All the children were recorded as having been born in Aberdovey, Merionethshire. Also present was servant Elizabeth Davies, 22, General Servant from Borth, Cardiganshire. Visiting the family were her uncle John Davies, 35, Master Mariner from Borth, Cardiganshire, aunt Amelia Davies, 25, from Carnarvon, cousin David Davies, 4, Scholar born Aberdovey, Merionethshire, and cousin Jane Ann, 1, born Carnarvon.

From the 1881 Census (RG11 Piece 5478 Folio 50 Page 21) Mary, 18, a Dressmaker, was with her mother Elizabeth, 42, a Sailor's Wife, at Church Street, Towyn, Merionethshire, Wales. Her father was busy in Milford Haven aboard the 'Olive Branch'. With her were her siblings Annie Elizabeth, 20, a General Servant, Scholars Owen, 10, David John, 8, Susannah, 6, and Jane Ellen, 4, along with Thomas Owen, 2, and my Taid, John Davies, 2 months.

Between 1881 and 1883 Mary gets married to John Evans a Tailor and Draper from Llanbrynmair.

From the 1891 Census (RG12 Piece 4587 Folio 46 Page 6) Mary is shown as being 28 and living with her Husband John Evans at 11 New Street, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. John is aged 30 and is a Tailor and Draper from Llanbrynmair Montgomeryshire. Their children Elizabeth, Annie, John O(wen) and Mary are also present. They have a 16 year old servant by the name of Mary J Evans. Also in the household is Henry R(obert) Shortland a 16 year old Apprentice Tailor from London. Henry went on to marry Susannah Williams, sister-in-law to his boss.

From the 1901 Census (RG13 Piece 5190 Folio 32 Page 6) Mary, now 37, is still with her husband John at 11 New Street, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. Their children Elizabeth, Annie, John O(wen), Mary, Olwen J(ane), Enid M(argaret), David S(amuel) and Richard B(reese) are all present. There are two other people present namely, John E. O. Williams, Servant, S(ingle), 19, Tailor from Treddol, Cardiganshire and Apprentice James J. Williams, S(ingle), 16 also from Treddol, Cardiganshire. Whether these two are related to each other or to the rest of the Williams clan is not known at this time.

From the 1911 Wales Census for Aberdovey, Merionethshire (RG14PN33713 RG78PN1945 RD615 SD2 ED6 SN114) Mary, 48, from Aberdovey, Merionethshire, was with her husband John, 53, Tailor and Draper from Llanbrynmair, Montgomeryshire, at Meirion House, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. With them were their children Elizabeth, 27, Helping in the trade, Annie, 25, Assistant Mistress, Mary, 20, Milliner, David Samuel, 17, Tailor, Enid Margaret, 14, Mother's Help, Richard Breese, 12, Scholar, and Gwennie, 7, Scholar. All the children were recorded as having been born in Aberdovey, Merionethshire.
