From the 1871 Census (RG10 Piece 5602 Folio 34 Page 27) David, 44, a Miner, was living with his wife Jane, 41, in Chapel Square, Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. With them were their children Mary Ann, 14, a Scholar, John (William), 12, a Mariner, Lisa Jane, 9, a Scholar and Elizabeth, 7, also a Scholar. Lodging with them were niece Mary Ann Williams, 4, niece Elizabeth Williams, 3, and nephew William Morris Williams, 8 months.
