- From the 1841 Census (HO107 Piece 1429/5 Folio 6 Page 5/6) there was an Evan Jones, 26, Male Servant, at Dolyglynen, Pennal, Merionethshire, Wales. The farm was owned by David Pughe, 40, Farmer, and his wife Elizabeth, 30. They had two children, John, 4, and Hugh, 2 weeks. They also had five other servants: Rowland Rowland, 22, David Moons, 16, Britchard Rowland, 58, Ann Philips, 19, and Catharine Pugh, 25.
From the 1851 Census (HO107 Piece 2495 Folio 186 Page 24) Evan, 38, a Labourer, was with his wife Gwen, 36, at Gellifach, Pennal, Merionethshire. With them were their children Mary, 12, Susan, 7, Elizabeth, 5, and Richard, 2. Lodging with them was Hugh Jones, 78, a Retired Labourer.
From the 1861 Census (RG9 Piece 4240 Folio 32 Page 5) we see Evan, 46, and his wife Gwen, 45 are living at Penrhynbach in the township of Cynfalfawr in the ecclesiastical district of Aberdovey, Merionethshire, Wales. Evan, an Agricultural Labourer, was born in the Parish Of Pennal, Merionethshire while his wife was born in the Parish Of Talyllyn, Merionethshire. Their children are Richard, 12, a Scholar born in the Parish Of Talyllyn, Merionethshire, Evan, 9, a Scholar born in the Parish Of Pennal, Merionethshire, Gwen, 6, John, 4 and Ellen, 6 months, all born in the Parish Of Towyn, Merionethshire, Wales.
From the 1871 Census (RG10 5603 Folio 46 Page 2) Evan Jones, 57 and his wife, Gwen, 56, are living in Lower Pennal. Evan is an Ag(ricultural) Lab(ourer) born in Pennal, Merionethshire. Gwen was born in Talyllyn, Merionethshire. Ellen, their 11 year old daughter is with them and was born in Towyn, Merionethshire, Wales.
From the 1881 Census (RG11 Piece 5478 Folio 8 Page 10) Evan, 67, Woodman, was with his wife Gwen, 66, Woodman's Wife, in Pennal Village, Merionethshire, Wales. They both indicate their birthplace as Pennal, Merionethshire, Wales. With them was their daughter Ellen, 21, Bonnetmaker, also born in Pennal.
From the 1891 Census (RG12 Piece 4587 Folio 8 Page 10) Evan, 77, a General Servant was with his wife, Gwen, 76, at Esguborfawr, Pennal, Merionethshire, Wales. With them was their granddaughter Elizabeth, 8, Scholar.
