This is by means of a &#8216;mod&#8217; developed by Felipe Miralha da Silveira, and Carlos Heuser and the text below is based on their description. There are currently over 5000 places to display on the map so it may take some time to fully load. In some instances it may not load at all!<\/p>\n<p>The usual Google map markers depict places. If you point the mouse to a place marker, an info-box with the name of the place, its coordinates and the tree it belongs to is shown. The number inside the cluster symbol informs how many places the cluster contains. If you click on the cluster symbol the page will zoom into the area covered by the cluster. Depending on how the places are geographically distributed, place markers and cluster symbols will be displayed.<\/p>\n<p>Overlaying the map there is a menu with several options. You may choose a specific tree (only one at the moment). In this case the mod will display just places where events from this tree have happened. By selecting the menu entry with six hyphens (&#8212;&#8212;) places for all trees are displayed.<\/p>\n<p>Users may also define specific events (e.g. birth or death) to be considered, by clicking on the event name.<\/p>\n<p>Further, a specific date range in years may be specified. In this case, just events that fall in the selected date range are considered.<\/p>\n<p>By clicking on the &#8220;Totals&#8221; button event and place counters are displayed.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the &#8220;Reset&#8221; button takes all options back to the default values.<\/p>\n<p>Take a look <a title=\"The Williams Family Tree World Place Map\" href=\"http:\/\/williamsfamilytree.co.uk\/tree\/events_map_index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> and play around with the map.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy<\/p>\n<p>Phil.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have added a page to display places on a world map.
